What to expect

Answer page

The discussion may cover sleep timing, waking patterns, stress load, digestion, pain, cycle changes, medication, caffeine, work demands and other health factors that may be relevant.

For severe anxiety, depression, panic, thoughts of self-harm, unexplained fatigue or sudden changes in sleep, it is important to involve an appropriate medical or mental health practitioner. Acupuncture can be discussed alongside that care where suitable.

Some people choose a standard appointment, while others prefer the extended restorative appointment for a slower session. Suitability and timing can be discussed before booking.

FAQs

It may be discussed as complementary support, but mental health care, urgent support, medication advice and GP assessment should stay guided by qualified medical or mental health practitioners.

If fatigue is unexplained, severe or persistent, it is worth starting with medical assessment. Your acupuncturist may suggest referral or coordination with your GP where appropriate.

New patients usually start with an initial appointment. The restorative appointment is longer and may be discussed if a slower, extended session is suitable.
